D.H.L. Gleason was the 9th Worshipful Master of the Natick Meridian Freemason’s Lodge.

The Meriden Lodge started in Watertown, Massachusetts then moved to Wellesley Hills
before settling in Natick. It was was one of  Paul Revere’s charters and  William Hull was the
first WM. Hull would go on to become the first Governor of Michigan.

Gleason left home in his teens and returned to his native New England to join in the 1st
Massachusetts Cavalry Regiment at the start of the War Between the States in 1861.
Enlisting in the National Lancers Company G he quickly rose through the ranks and was
commisioned. Daniel lead men at the battle of Brandy Station and other cavalry battles
throughout the Civil War.

After the conflict he moved around until settling in Natick in 1867 where he became a
important member of the community. He also went on to lead the General Wadsworth Post 63
of the GAR.
